1 Corinthians 12:7

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all

This is a great passage that kind of summarizes the whole chapter. I strongly suggest reading the whole thing, but in accordance with my self-imposed short post requirement I only posted the one verse since I think it expresses the heart of the chapter: God wants to use us all for the benefit of us all! When we are all used by the Spirit the body will function properly and benefit us all. God has manifest His Spirit in all of us and all of us need to exercise our gifts in accordance to that. If he only wanted a few to exercise their gifts he would have only manifested his Spirit in a few, but he didn’t and so we all need to participate in the life of the church!

You said, “God wants to use us all for the benefit of us all!” Yes! I love the way that Paul expresses this in Ephesians 4:16. If you remove all the prepositional phrases (except the first one) and all other modifiers, you get this: In Christ, the body causes the body to grow.

Thanks for sharing that about Ephesian 4:16. That’s awesome!
