Yesterday was Stephanie and my anniversary. We had a great time! Our families had the kids for the weekend so we were able to relax and just spend some time together, which, if you are a parent, you know doesn’t happen very often.
Friday I wrote a review of Coffeehouse Theology and got a very kind email from the author, Ed Cyzewski, who informed me that he also lives in New England, so we may try and get together and chat sometime. That would be great!
Wednesday morning George and I met for coffee, we got into a good discussion on textual criticism, translations of the Bible, and how to explore the original text a little deeper without necessarily having to know Greek/Hebrew. That was a good conversation.
Sunday evening we gathered with some other believers for burgers, singing, prayer, and Bible discussion. We are really enjoying the fellowship with these folks and look forward to getting to know them all better. We missed the turkey dinner this weekend, but we are looking forward to geting together with them all again soon!
At the previously mentioned gathering we met some really great folks visiting from Spain. They are missionaries there from the UK. We discussed missions, Spain, beer, and lots of other interesting topics. Hopefully we can get together with them this week before they leave and offer them some great Maine beer (the only American beer they had tried was Coors Light, blah!)
Wednesday evening we had our good friend Kim and her daughter Abbie over for pizza. We hadn’t gotten together with them in quite a while so it was really nice to hang out. The kids had a blast, and we had some good laughs about old times, and got caught up on each other’s lives. Kim promised our girls “bead boxes” (necklace kits) so hopefully we will get together again soon.
Vacation this week! But I have a series all prepared that I look forward to hearing your thoughts on. It deals with worship, how it is defined, and how it is practiced. Hopefully it will spark some encouraging and helpful discussions.
Have a great week!
