I have posted a new Religion and Politics article at the Portland, ME Examiner:
Foundational principles driving budget issues in Maine and Wisconsin
In this article I ask whether the principles underlying both sides of the budget debate are opposed to the Christian Worldview. Here is an excerpt:
In Scripture followers of Christ are told to lay down their lives, to carry their crosses, to turn the other cheek, to forgive debts owed them, to love their enemies, to follow Christ in death, and, in so doing, receive life. Where are rights in there? Nowhere. Christianity is about laying down one’s rights as an act of love to God and others.
If you get the chance, please read the rest of the article and let me know what you think. Thanks!
